Nina Gold reportedly joins Bond 26 as search for next 007 begins

The acclaimed casting director is reportedly helping Amazon MGM find Daniel Craig’s successor.

Bond 26

Amazon MGM has reportedly enlisted British casting director Nina Gold to help find the next James Bond, following the studio’s public confirmation that the search for a new 007 is now underway.

According to Variety, Gold has joined Bond 26 as auditions for the role began “in the past few weeks”.

The report follows Amazon MGM’s statement of yesterday confirming that “the search for the next James Bond is underway”, the clearest public acknowledgement yet that the studio has moved into the practical early stages of casting Bond 26.

While Amazon MGM declined to discuss specific details of the process, Variety reported that Gold’s involvement was confirmed by a source close to the production.

Gold is regarded as one of the industry’s most respected casting directors, with credits including Game of Thrones, The Crown, The Martian and several Star Wars films. She also cast Daisy Ridley as Rey in The Force Awakens.

Her reported involvement is particularly notable given the importance casting directors have traditionally played in shaping the Bond franchise.

Debbie McWilliams became closely associated with the modern era of Bond after working on films including The Living Daylights, GoldenEye and Casino Royale, helping cast Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

Confirmed facts, structured analysis, and reasoned forecasting.

The latest report does not indicate how advanced the current Bond search is, and there remains a substantial difference between early auditions, exploratory discussions and final screen tests.

Even so, the development strongly suggests Amazon MGM has now entered the first serious phase of selecting the actor who will lead the franchise into its next era.

Bond 26 will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing and Steven Knight writing the screenplay.

No release date or production start date has yet been announced.
