SPECTRE box office update as Star Wars exceeds $500M within days of release

SPECTRE added another $7.8 million to its worldwide take this weekend to put it on a total of $836 million globally.

That puts it well behind Skyfalls $1.1 billion take, but as mentioned before, that benefited from exception circumstances. The big box office news of the week though was the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, which rocketed to $517 million on its first weekend.

SPECTRE is nearing the end of its run, so we’ll soon be able to see where it fits in with figures adjusted for inflation. Unadjusted it is the second highest grossing Bond film but its huge budget means it won’t necessarily be one of the most profitable.

Internationally it added $6.4 million, with another $1.4 million from the domestic market. The previous weekend the figures were $12.9 million and $4 million respectively.
