Sam Smith wins Golden Globe for SPECTRE theme song

Last night British singer Sam Smith and co-writer Jimmy Napes picked up a Golden Globe for Writing’s on the Wall, the theme song for SPECTRE, at an award ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The duo beat off artists such as Ellie Goulding and Brian Wilson to take the award for Best Original Song.  Writing’s on the Wall is the first Bond theme to reach the number 1 spot in the UK, although it was only able to reach 71 in the US Hot 100.

The Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to recognise excellence in domestic and foreign film and television.
