Today is the day that Bond fans in the United States and Canada have been waiting for, with the release of Quantum of Solace on the big screen.
Originally due to be released a week earlier, the latest Bond movie was delayed due to the gap in openings created by the latest Harry Potter’s delay until July 2009. Already a smash in the UK and other territories, Quantum of Solace is expected to outdo Casino Royale by a long stretch, profiting from the sequel effect experienced by The Dark Knight picking up directly from Batman Begins.
Already on release in 60 markets, Quantum of Solace has taken some $190 million in ticket sales already and with it opening in 3,400 screens in the United States and Canada it is expected to exceed $300 million by the close of the weekend and take more than 50 percent more than Casino Royale in the opening weekend.
