Lord Mountbatten`s James Bond-style pen gun now on auction

A gold plated pen that hides a secret pistol given to Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of India, is set to be auctioned in March in by Holt’s Auctioneers of London. It was given to Mountbatten, the uncle of the Duke of Edinburgh, by the Maharaja of Jodhpur in 1948 and is expected to raise £5,000 to £7,000.

Although not directly related to James Bond, it appears to be similar to some of the gadgets that Ian Fleming had seen demonstrated during his time in Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. It is reported that it remained in the family until recently and was bought by a collector.
