Confirmation Roger Deakins turned down Bond 24

While it was recently widely reported that Roger Deakins was not returning for Bond 24 after Kristopher Tapley (HitFix.com) tweeted that Deakins broke the news to him at dinner, it turns out the news had already broken by that stage.

48 hours or so before Tapley tweeted the news, Deakins had already been quoted as saying:

“He’s got a great idea for another film, which is really an extension [of Skyfall] but from my point, I don’t know what else I could do with it, really.”

While Sam Mendes did an abrupt about face on the issue of him directing the follow up to Skyfall, it really does look unlikely that Deakins will return.
