It is with great sadness that we report the passing of the renowned actor Topol, who died at the age of 87.
Born on 9th September 1935 in Tel Aviv, Topol was an immensely talented performer who achieved great success on stage and screen. Topol will always be remembered by James Bond fans for his unforgettable portrayal of Milos Columbo in For Your Eyes Only. In the movie, Topol brought his signature charm and talent to the role of the Greek smuggler, earning high praise for his portrayal.
Topol’s career spanned more than six decades, during which he honed his craft on stage and in films. He began his career as a young actor in Israel, where he quickly gained acclaim for his stage performances in local productions of plays such as Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
In the 1960s, Topol burst onto the international scene with his iconic performance as Tevye in the popular musical Fiddler on the Roof. He went on to star in a number of successful films, including the film version of Fiddler, Galileo, Flash Gordon, and, of course, For Your Eyes Only.
