Skyfall smashes UK box office records

According to an article published yesterday by Deadline Hollywodd, Skyfall is estimated to have grossed $77.7 million in its first weekend, hitting the number one spot in all markets it has been released in, 76% more than Casino Royale and 30% more than Quantum of Solace. IMAX is thought to have accounted for $3.5 million of that figure in 15 territories.

In the UK the first weekend’s figures are estimated at £20.1 million ($32.4 million), a new record for a 2D film and in second place behind Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, which was in 3D. The article puts a guestimate of $215 million when Skyfall opens in the United States. The film opens in IMAX cinemas on November 8th, with full release a day later.
