Rumour: Guy Ritchie in talks to direct Bond 25

A story in The Mirror claims that Guy Ritchie is the front runner to direct Bond 25.

Bond 25

The article, written by Simon Boyle and published on Saturday, claims that Ritchie has flown to Los Angeles to meet Eon Productions’ co-boss Michael G Wilson. The article quotes the usual unnamed source as saying:

“Guy has moved up the shortlist and is now the front runner. He’s meeting Michael this week to try to do a deal and see if they can agree on a shared vision for the film.”

Ritchie is the director behind the Brit gangster movies Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch as well as two Sherlock Holmes films. Most recently he directed ’60s espionage flick, The Man From UNCLE.

Given his involvement in the UNCLE movie it does seem that Madonna’s ex-husband could well be on Eon’s radar. It also seems likely that Wilson and Barbara Broccoli should be looking to sign up a director around now for Bond 25.

Although the story is impossible to verify, it does at least pass an initial BS check, so watch out to see if anything more solid is revealed.
