Orlebar Brown has released a new 007 collection for summer 2020 inspired by some of 007’s more beach friendly outfits.
You can read my thoughts on last year’s collection here but the new line comprises mainly of shirts and swimming shorts based on some classic Bond looks, with Thunderball again well represented. According to Orlebar Brown:
The ultimate James Bond wardrobe has arrived with a full resort wear collection inspired by 007’s iconic on-screen looks. Whether you opt for the linen summer suit inspired by the one worn in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service or a classic button-through shirt, there’s always an occasion that deserves film star style.
On first seeing images of the new collection there is one shirt that really stands out. The ivory coloured Dr No polo is totally wrong. The sales page for the shirt is accompanied by a photo of a photo of Sean Connery in a similar looking garment on a beach, shown below.
However, the still is a colourised black and white still used for promotional purposes. The same photo was used on a poster for the film but with the shirt coloured red.
But the shirt and trousers were in fact pale blue.
The error may or may not bother you and Orlebar Brown already designed a pale blue polo last year based on this one in towelling(!). But it is curious that such an error made it into the final collection.
Personally I think the clothes are expensive for what they are, but you can check out the full range of Orlebar Brown’s 007 products following the link below. If you do decide to purchase using this link the site may earn a small commission that goes towards running costs.
