OHMSS Rolex to be auctioned in July

A Rolex watch worn by George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is to be auctioned next month in Monte Carlo.

The auction website lists Lot 400 as a Rolex Pre-Daytona ref. 6238.

The watch comes with a copy of the original invoice from Bucherer Interlaken, dated 23rd October 1968 with the handwritten words: This is the watch for James Bond. The purchase at the time was 790 Swiss Francs. At today’s exchange rate that equates to £600 ($808 or €727).

It also includes a black and white photo of a scene from the movie with Nancy (Catherina von Schell) with James Bond with the watch. The watch was previously auctioned in 2003 and a copy of the Christie’s invoice is included, as well as a 2008 invoice when it was bought by the current owner.

The auction takes place at Monte-Carlo’s Hôtel Hermitage on 18th July.

Pre-Daytona 6238 Chronographs are already pricey these days. This one is gonna go for a very pretty penny.
