James Bond watch sells for $198,000 [AFP]

The Rolex Submariner worn by Roger Moore in Live And Let Die sold at auction in Geneva yesterday for 180,000 Swiss francs according to Christie’s. However, that is far lower than the estimate of 200 to 400,000 Swiss francs and so something of a bargain. AFP writes:

Its hyper-intensified magnetic field was meanwhile intended to help Bond deflect bullets, but instead was used to unzip the dress of a love interest at the beginning of the 1973 film.

Head of watches at Christie’s Aurel Bacs said the European buyer was an enthusiast who wanted to remain anonymous.
