James Bond Skyfall’s china bulldog sells out | Mail Online

007 may have hated the porcelain British bulldog bequeathed to him by M in Skyfall, but the figurine has proved to be enormously popular following the release of the film.

So popular, in fact, that manufacturer Royal Dalton has sold out thanks to the spike in demand and the £50 bulldog will not be available until February 2013 according to the company.

It’s not the first time that a Bond film has created demand for a product like this, French company Lillet experienced a surge in demand for its product following the release of Casino Royale in 2006. It does show how effective product placement can be, whether part of a paid deal or not, as the featured brands involved do appear to benefit far more widely than the Bond fan base.

    If you’d read the novel then you’d have been familiar with Kina Lillet, although I had never been able to track it down. As for the dog, I’m with 007 – I really do NOT want one for Xmas!
