Forrest Gump beats 007 as greatest film character of all time [The Telegraph]

It’s hard to believe, but Forrest Gump trumped James Bond as the greatest character in the history of the movies in a poll by ABC News and People magazine.

Out of more than half a million films made by Hollywood the character portrayed by Tom Hanks ranked top in the biggest ever poll of moviegoers… While Gump was the runaway winner, British secret agent James Bond was named as the second greatest film character.

Voters were allowed to pick their favourites from a selection chosen by a panel of film industry experts that included actors, producers and directors and more than half a million votes were cast between November 2010 and January 2011.
