Danjaq registers Q Branch trademark

Eon Productions set to launch Q Branch branded products?

While searching a trademark database for evidence a title for Bond 25 had already been registered, Belgian Bond fan Corneel Vanfleteren stumbled upon something else entirely.

Danjaq LLC, the company responsible for James Bond related copyright and trademarks, recently applied to trademark Q Branch for a couple of classes of product (screen shot below):

According to the search result, the filing was made on 11th July for “Grips, stands, and rings for handheld electronic devices…” and for credit card holders (including those incorporating RFID blocking technology) and a variety of bags and travel accessories – no cat food though.

So, what does this mean?

It could be nothing of course and that Eon simply wants to prevent other companies from launching Q Branch branded products. Perhaps they got wind that someone planned to do exactly that.

On the other it might mean they are planning to licence such products to be marketed under the Q Branch brand. Time will tell.

Thanks to Corneel for the heads up on Twitter.
