Christopher Nolan opens up about directing James Bond

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan spoke about the possibility of directing Bond 26. Nolan has long been a fan of the Bond franchise, and he has said that he would be “honoured” to direct a Bond film:

The Bond films are very specific in terms of their tone and style. They’re very much rooted in a certain kind of reality, but they also have a fantastical element to them. It would be a challenge to find a way to honour that franchise while also putting my own stamp on it. But it would be an amazing privilege to do one.

Nolan also said that he would want to have complete creative control over the film, adding:

I would want to have complete creative control over the film. I would not want to make a Bond film unless I was able to tell the story that I want to tell. I would want to make a Bond film that I would want to see as a fan.

His comments suggest that he is interested in directing a Bond film under the right circumstances and have generated excitement among some Bond fans. Many fans believe that Nolan would be a great choice to direct a Bond film, and they are eager to see what he would do with the franchise.

Oh yes, he’d be a great choice to direct but all parties must agree so the franchise can move forward. Certainly they have the writers to do the job. There’s no doubt that it will be a smash no matter who directs. Cary Joji Fukunaga was a surprisingly great choice for “No Time to Die” who delivered the goods wonderfully.
