Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond in Casino Royale has recently been re-released on DVD and Blu-Ray to coincide with the theatrical release of Quantum of Solace. A selection of other Bond films has also been made available on Blu-Ray for the first time, with more to follow in 2009.
Many people were unhappy with the extras on first release of Casino Royale, but this reissue has been designed to amend that; in addition to the previous extras, the Deluxe Edition – known as the Collectors Edition in the US – adds commentaries by director Martin Campbell and co-producer Michael Wilson; and a second by the crew.
Other previously unreleased material includes deleted scenes, as well as a feature on why it took over 50 years for the Bond filmmakers to bring Ian Fleming’s first 007 novel to the big screen and what is claimed to be previously unrevealed information about Bond’s creator and the origins of 007 Other new features include:
- James Bond in the Bahamas
- Ian Fleming: The Secret Road to Paradise
- Death in Venice
- The Art of the Freerun
- Catching a Plane: From Storyboard to Screen
- Storyboard Sequence: Freerun Chase
