Bond 25 bombshell: Danny Boyle leaves production due to creative differences

The official 007 Twitter account dropped a bombshell this evening when they announced that Danny Boyle was leaving Bond 25 due to creative differences.

Eon Productions has not yet elaborated so it’s difficult to know what implications it has for the next Bond film.

But here are some questions that come to mind:

  • Will production be delayed?
  • If so, for how long?
  • Will John Hodge’s script be used, or will they revert to the Pervis and Wade script?

I’ll update the site once we have new details and update the main Bond 25 page when I can.

But for now, everything is in the air.

David Leigh founded The James Bond Dossier in 2002. A fan of 007 since the age of 8, he is also author of The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond. You can order a copy here if you don't own it already.

Good news. Boyle would have been a disaster. A fine director but wrong for Bond. If possible: offer S. Mendes a percentage of the gross and try to bring him back. Otherwise: Martin C. again, or; Michael Mann, or the Director of Sicario or Guy Ritchie. But you’d have to get Guy to come off that frenetic pace a bit. However, that being said; The Man From Uncle is close to a masterpiece. Barbara and Michael are sure to make the right call.

I was interested to see what he could do. I’m not really a fan of Mendes’ work.

I have watched Bond Movies since a young boy when my sister took me to see Dr.No, I was hooked and been a fan ever since and seen every Bond Film since,as young boy I was inspired to be like 007
Handsome,Dapper,Quintessially English, impeccable manners and Sophiticated.
I am very concerned that his concept is being changed to suit this new generation who know nothing about sophistication or what a true English Gentleman is!!
Please Do Not Change a Format that has worked for over 25 years just to please a different generation.
If 007 is Changed to anything other than a quintessential university educated englishman I for one will not be watching, the years of Sean Connery,Roger Moore,Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are the Very Best of the Bond Years.
