Despite our misgivings about Purvis and Wade writing the Bond 22 script, MI6 reported in April that the dynamic duo had delivered their final draft of the story. Meanwhile Daniel Craig has been in Cannes he previewing The Golden Compass, due for release in December. There he revealed to reporters that the script was still incomplete, adding that he thought the next installment would need to top Casino Royale to keep 007 fans happy, a sentiment he has expressed on several occasions now.
At first glance these two stories seem to be incompatible, but make sense when you take in another news item reported by MI6 today. In fact it is the best bit of Bond 22 script news we’ve heard to date; Paul Haggis will be polishing the script. The writer/director was brought on board Casino Royale to sort out some of the script problems and was reportedly offered the director’s job for Bond 22. Although he turned it down EON has apparently shortlisted four directors for the job; Marc Forster, Tony Scott, Alex Proyas, and Jonathan Mostow.

I would prefer Tony Scott as director. He knows how to do an exciting action thriller. Bond 22 better be good. I expect the best of the best. This realistic dark style which died after Timothy Dalton has returned. I like that… I hope Bond 22 will be dark and realistic as well.
