I like the idea of a continuation set in the time of the original. I was disappointed in the last two novels.

Actually, Trigger Mortis is relatively good. The main criticism that I have is that in the 1st third of the book there are way too many characters & villains. The latter part of the book is much better but can be too slow moving in parts which makes it seem rather choppy. Of course nobody can duplicate the way Ian Fleming could write. That is why the original Bond books have withstood time. But Anthony Horowitz does quite well for a Bond “clone writer.” His writing is more polished than previous authors of the “official” Bond Books. I happened to read the audio book narrated by David Oyelowo. To me Horowitz should have been the one to narrate the book rather than Oyelowo, who has a slow type of delivery that can put one to sleep if you’re not careful. However, overall it is a very good Bond book that I highly recommend. Kudos to Horowitz by placing the story timeline in succession to Goldfinger. That’s just where Bond belongs!
