007 voice artist Robert Rietti dies aged 92

Robert Rietti, who directed post-synching on many films including a number of the early James Bond movies, died on 3rd April at the age of 92.

Much of his work went uncredited, including dubbing the voice of John Strangways in Dr No, Emilio Largo in Thunderball and Tiger Tanaka in You Only Live Twice. and the bald villain in the For Your Eyes Only pre-titles. His voice also featured in the 1967 version of Casino Royale and Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again, and re-voiced Orson Wells in Treasure Island (1972) as well as many other major films.

Born Lucio Rietti in Italy in 1923, he is usually credited as Robert Rietty and as well as his dubbing work on feature films was also a playright, adapting Italian plays into English and writing original plays for stage, radio and TV.
