Joan Casanovas discusses how Moonraker introduced him to James Bond.
When and how did you first get bitten by the Bond bug?
I was a thirteen-year-old boy and it was a hot summer. A cousin one year older tan me came at home and we decided to rent a film in the cutting-edge technology named BETAMAX. I had no idea of who “James Bond” was when he suggested to rent Moonraker. Oh my God! Lots of action, sexy girls, impossible villains, terrific gadgets,… something blew up in my mind after Drax’s Space Station.
What’s your favourite item in your collection and why?
I am afraid I cannot choose only one favourite item. I have two, like double-o agents killings. The first one is a 6 feet James Bond made of papier maché. Not only because it was a present from my sister but also because it comes with me to almost any event that we (Archivo 007) organize. The second one is my Omega Seamaster, an astonishing present from my parents that I received day I got married.
What item would you most like to add?
It would be nice to have a real Aston Martin. I don’t care the model, I am humble.
What’s your biggest obstacle to collecting, or is there a tip you’d like to share?
I am not a collector as I mostly have books from where I take information to know more about Bond. But as all collectors might be aware, I guess the main obstacles to have a huge collection are two: money and space.
Having met other James Bond fans in Spain and other countries is, perhaps, one of our best collection “item” ever. Should we put all the items together and create the ultimate James Bond fan meeting? Perhaps the Broccolis would be happy to join us as well….
Where can people find you?
