Shaking a Martini rather than stirring it will make the drink colder, more aerated and slightly cloudy due to the presence of ice shards. Smirnoff Black, which has a mellow smoothness and depth to it, allows the delicate balance of flavours of this classic cocktail to shine through.
|007 Black Martini (Shaken not Stirred)|
|Ingredients||50ml Smirnoff Black|
|5ml Noilly Prat (Dry Vermouth)|
|Method||Pour the vermouth into the martini glass and fill with crushed ice and water. Shake the Smirnoff Black with cubed ice well in a separate cocktail shaker. Discard the contents of the martini glass (which will leave a vermouth rinse on the glass). Strain the Smirnoff into the glass and garnish with a lemon twist.|
|Glass||Frozen Cocktail (Martini)|
|Garnish||Lemon Twist (or Olive as desired)|
|Notes||James Bond asks for him Martini dry and Shaken with a lemon twist. Alternatives include using more vermouth (10ml for ‘wet’), stirring and using an olive as garnish|
