Smirnoff Black recipes – 007 Black Martini

007 Black MartiniThe Vodka Martini, “shaken not stirred”, is easily the most famous of all Bond’s drinks and ordered some 20 times in the Eon films.

Shaking a Martini rather than stirring it will make the drink colder, more aerated and slightly cloudy due to the presence of ice shards. Smirnoff Black, which has a mellow smoothness and depth to it, allows the delicate balance of flavours of this classic cocktail to shine through.

007 Black Martini (Shaken not Stirred)

Ingredients 50ml Smirnoff Black
5ml Noilly Prat (Dry Vermouth)
Lemon Twist
Method Pour the vermouth into the martini glass and fill with crushed ice and water. Shake the Smirnoff Black with cubed ice well in a separate cocktail shaker. Discard the contents of the martini glass (which will leave a vermouth rinse on the glass). Strain the Smirnoff into the glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
Ice None
Glass Frozen Cocktail (Martini)
Garnish Lemon Twist (or Olive as desired)
Units

2.1

Notes James Bond asks for him Martini dry and Shaken with a lemon twist. Alternatives include using more vermouth (10ml for ‘wet’), stirring and using an olive as garnish
