Collecting 007

When and how did you first get bitten by the Bond bug?

November 1965, “The Incredible World of James Bond” (TV special)

What’s your favourite item in your collection and why?

Copies of scripts, especially early drafts to see how the movies developed. In particular, it’s interesting to read Maibaum’s 1961 first draft for Thunderball and the later 1965 script.

What item would you most like to add?

Quantum of Solace script. Collectors say they’ve never seen one.

What’s your biggest obstacle to collecting, or is there a tip you’d like to share?

At this point, money (in terms of rare objects, first edition).

Anything else?

Networking with other collectors is valuable. That’s how I got the scripts I have.

Where can people find you?

David Leigh founded The James Bond Dossier in 2002. A fan of 007 since the age of 8, he is also author of The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond. You can order a copy here if you don't own it already.
