Recently I crunched box office numbers for all the James Bond movies released by Eon Productions to date. The idea was to go beyond the inflation-adjusted figures that have been reported before and to find out the most successful Bond films based on other than simply the box-office take.
Skyfall was the first Bond film to earn more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, but while that headline figure is impressive, it tells little of the real story. Inflation adjusted figures are more comparative, but those too can be misleading.
So I went a bit further and went on to estimate the ROI of the films based on reported production budgets and box office. And also the domestic and worldwide audience sizes for each of the films.
