Ahead of the opening of the highly anticipated Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve was in his home town where he spoke to the Montreal Gazette.

Aside from his latest film, Villeneuve was asked about the rumours linking him to the next Bond film.

“It’s true — I’ve been in discussions with (producer) Barbara Broccoli and (actor) Daniel Craig. It’s a magnificent project; I would love to do a James Bond, but I don’t know how it would fit with my current projects. We’ll have to see.”

Villeneuve is also set to direct a film based on Frank Herbert’s science fiction blockbuster Dune. The novel was previously filmed by David Lynch but it is apparently his long held ambition to try his hand at it. He is also linked to Sony’s film about Cleopatra, the latest in a string of directors to be attached to the film.
