In Skyfall (2012), a mission in Turkey goes badly wrong after a hard disc containing details of MI6 agents falls into the hands of a gun for hire. While attempting to retrieve the disc James Bond goes missing, presumed dead. In fact he has gone to ground while trying to exorcise his demons and coming to terms with his betrayal by M. Meanwhile the loss of the disc has cost her her job, and as she prepares for being forcibly retired MI6 comes under attack from a dangerous cyber terrorist.
What we say
Daniel Craig is once again excellent and there are some great moments and spectacular cinematography, but ultimately Skyfall is less than the sum of its parts and Javier Bardem’s villain wildly over the top. The story doesn’t cut it either and David Arnold is sorely missed.
