Daniel Craig was born on 2nd March 1968 in Chester, born to an art teacher and a pub landlord.
His acting career began when he was six years old, when he performed in school plays, but became involved in serious acting through the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and moved to London aged 16 to join the National Yoouth Theatre.
Early successes include the BBC drama Our Friends in the North (1996) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) opposite Angeline Jolie on the big screen, but it was Layer Cake (2004) that brought him to the attention of Barbara Broccoli.
Eon Productions introduced Craig as 007 on 14th October 2005, a decision that immediately drew criticism from some fans and a media campaign was launched against him.
However, when Casino Royale was released in November 2006 it was to almost universal acclaim and Craig has since been hailed as one of the best actors to have played James Bond.
So, today is the day to pour yourself a vodka martini and raise your glass to Daniel Craig and say Happy Birthday!
