Skyfall – Turkish locations [video]

A new video blog provided by 007.com on YouTube has Sam Mendes talking about filming in Turkey. He says that Skyfall shows the best of Turkey without falling into cliche, and how they have tried to capture Istanbul as it is today, as an every changing and developing city. The video shows some beautiful long shots of some of the city’s highlights, as well as behind the scenes footage of the pre-title sequence. He later adds that opening sequence is ambitious and varied.

Naomie Harris says that the sequence is a mission that has gone wrong, while Daniel Craig calls Istanbul “welcoming” and a magical place for Bond to be. Istanbul does come across extremely well in the footage, if the footage in the film matches what is in this video, should see a huge benefit to the city’s tourism potential – for good and bad.
