Skyfall premieres in China with cuts

Skyfall finally premiered in China on Wednesday, the last major territory for it to conquer. According to a report in Hollywood Reporter the film has a number of cuts, including – for some reason – the removal of the scene that shows Ola Rapace’s character shooting a security guard in the lobby of a Shanghai skyscraper.

If the Chinese authorities see that as a criticism of their security guards, to the rest of the world it might seem like paranoia.

There are other more minor changes made to the subtitles, which don’t match the English dialogue. Severine tells 007 about being forced into working for a mafia, rather than into prostitution; and story of Silva’s interrogation at the hands of the Chinese after the handover of Hong Kong has been changed.
