New book on James Bond’s drinks launches in time for Xmas

A new book that takes a detailed look at the drinks of James Bond is being published just in time for Christmas 2010.

The author, David Leigh, is a lifelong fan of James Bond and is responsible for this website. He became interested in James Bond after picking up his father’s copy of Casino Royale at the age of eight, and when he added Corgi’s Aston Martin DB5 to his collection he was absolutely hooked.

David says, “The common perception of James Bond’s drinks is simply of vodka martinis and Champagne. However, if you go back to the books in particular, but also the early films, you’ll find that 007 enjoys a much wider range of drinks.”

The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond takes a comprehensive look at the drinks consumed by 007 in both Ian Fleming’s novels and the EON movies up to Quantum of Solace and will be available online from November 26, in time for the holiday season. It even includes cocktail recipes, including Ian Fleming’s recipes for the Vesper from Casino Royale and the vodka martini.

Although The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond won’t be available until the end of November, you can get on the “early bird list” to receive notification as soon as the book is launched:

David Leigh founded The James Bond Dossier in 2002. A fan of 007 since the age of 8, he is also author of The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond. You can order a copy here if you don't own it already.
