Morten Tyldum asked about availability for Bond 25 “in a couple of years”

Following on from yesterday’s reports that Sam Mendes may be back in talks with Eon and Sony about returning to direct Bond 24, MI6 has this morning reported that Norwegian film director Morten Tyldum, responsible for Headhunters, confirmed to comoyo.no by email that he had a meeting with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

The Bond producers asked him to read a script (presumably a first draft of Bond 24) but with with Sam Mendes now considering Bond 24 they are now interested in Tyldum’s availability for Bond 25 “in a couple of year’s time”.

That timeframe doesn’t seem to add up though. If Sam Mendes is on board Bond 24 then presumably it will be released in 2015 or 2016, so Bond 25 would probably start pre-production in 2016 at the earliest, and more likely 2017.

While MI6 is usually reliable with information, is it just me who smells a rat?

UPDATE: Morten from www.jamesbond.no got in contact with me about this story. He was emailed directly by Morten Tyldum about this story, so it does in fact appear to be true.
