Sometimes known as “the fifth Beatle”, Martin is best known for signing The Beetles to EMI, and as producer he helped shape their sound.

As well as working with The Beatles and many other artists, Martin also produced two James Bond themes, the first of which was Goldfinger, sung by Shirley Bassey. He also produced Live And Let Die, written and performed by Paul McCartney and Wings. For this latter film he also composed and produced the score.

Martin, who was born in 1926 in London, was knighted in 1996 for his services to music and popular culture.

David Leigh founded The James Bond Dossier in 2002. A fan of 007 since the age of 8, he is also author of The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond. You can order a copy here if you don't own it already.
