Chance to appear in James Bond novel raises £30k at auction

The chance for a character in the next James Bond novel by Anthony Horowitz and to be published in September next year proved to be the star lot of the night at an auction for the London Air Ambulance that raised a total of £120,000.

Horowitz offered to not only name a character after the highest bidder, but also physical characteristics as weaving “Aspects of their personality and life” into the story and possibly meeting 007, or even to “be killed by him!”

In the end bidding on the lot proved to be so successful that the author agreed to write the two highest bidders into his novel. According to The Book Bond £30,000 was raised from this alone.
