Adele to work on Bond 23 theme?

Adele’s appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show recently caused quite a stir after Ross asked her about forthcoming projects.  Revealing that she would be going back to the studio in November, Ross asked her what she would be working on.

She replied, “Well, this is actually a theme. Wow, that’s really giving something away.

She quickly added, “It’s a concept. One song.” while Ross hummed the James Bond theme.

While much of the media has taken that as confirmation that she will be doing the theme for Bond 23, if she has been in touch with EON Productions and David Arnold it is much more likely that they are canvassing several artists at this early stage. And there is always the strong possibility that Ross either put 2 and 2 together and made 5, and the theme has nothing to do with Bond 23; or that it was a deliberate attempt to get more publicity for his show.

As it is known that the late Amy Winehouse had been working with Mark Ronson (who incidentally did the music for The Jonathan Ross Show) on a theme for Quantum of Solace, which was abandoned,  it could be true that the producers are looking for a more retro artist to do a Shirley Bassey-esque theme.

Whether it will be Adele or another artist though remains to be seen.

If EON are looking for a more retro 60’s feel to the opening theme for Bond 23, they easily go with Duffy. She has the range and the voice to be able to carry off a belter. I always felt that the her song ‘Rain on Your Parade’ was certainly very bondesque. Check out the video on you tube.
