Actors back Daniel Craig as 007

Following yesterday’s attacks on Daniel Craig by a supposed “fan” website, the actor is finding support from several actors involved in the franchise in the past.

The fastest support is from Toby Stephens who played the villain in 2002’s Die Another Day and this follows support from fellow villain Christopher Lee and former Bond actors Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

“He is a very dark actor and a very interesting one and I think he will be brilliant. It will reinvigorate the whole thing”, said Stephens and said that his casting in Casino Royale was “inspired”.

In response to the “Craig not Bond” site, pro-Craig fans have launched www.craigisbond.com, although the site currently has no content other than a publicity still of Daniel Craig.

David Leigh founded The James Bond Dossier in 2002. A fan of 007 since the age of 8, he is also author of The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond. You can order a copy here if you don't own it already.
